Industry trade association Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers (SWPP) feature an article I wrote on wedding and portrait photography this month. The association is the biggest in the country with many members both here in the UK and internationally. I often speak at their huge convention in every January and next year is no exception. This year my talks will be about Family portraiture and Weddings. If you are a photographer and will be at the convention - make sure you come along to my seminars!

I am popular in Essex at the moment! This months cover shot was taken of my sister at her wedding back in April, and both she and I was delighted that Lisa, the Editor of the magazine, chose it for the cover. The July issue also features a wedding I shot at Spains Hall last year - Colin and Carla on 13th September.

Probably the industry's leading professional photography magazine, Photo Pro, contacted me some weeks back and asked me to write an article on social portrait photography. Having been in the business of wedding and portrait photography for some 15 years, I certainly have the experience to pass on! I really enjoyed writing the article which covered things like how I got started, what gear I use, and how to photograph people of different ages. My work is very diverse, and so I was able to give a real insight into the different aspects of portrait photography, both on location and in the studio.

After meeting up with the boys at the church in the morning, I went into Cambridge as Kate got ready at the University Arms Hotel. Even though Kate was so nervous it certainly doesn’t show in the pictures - I just kept saying “Its fine you don’t need to eat anything, just run on the adrenaline!” The ceremony was fantastic and the church packed with 150 guests! Followed by an amazing drinks reception at Longstowe Hall, this really was a beautiful wedding...Enjoy the preview.

With the whole wedding at the Hotel, everything ran very smoothly. Getting some great shots of Stefan and the boys getting ready, Lisa and the girls getting ready with loads of time to spare. The little bridesmaids looked so cute, and Lisa so stunning! After the ceremony the couple enjoyed a champagne reception on the lawn with their guests and we had loads of fun doing the photos. Probably the hottest day so far this year helped the wedding of Natalie and David run so smoothly. It also gave us the opportunity to take advantage of the great location of this fantastic venue. Right in the heart of the City of Cambridge, meant just a short walk from the hotel, we could take some fantastic pictures that really sum up what Cambridge is all about - amazing architecture, bicycles and the university. What a scorching summers day Saturday was. After meeting with the boys at the church in West Wratting, I went on to Joanna’s parents house where she was getting ready. I knew her face was familiar when we first discussed the wedding plans - I had photographed the family some 10 years earlier when I worked for a Cambridge studio. I recognised all the family pictures in the house; small world as they say!
Anyway the wedding was beautiful and their reception was back at the house in a wonderful marquee. It was great to work with some of my favourite wedding professionals on the day including the fantastic Headspin Video.
